Isogeometric cohesive zone model for thin shell delamination analysis based on Kirchhoff-Love shell model

摘要: We present a cohesive zone model for delamination in thin shells and composite structures. The isogeometric (IGA) thin shell model is based on Kirchhoff-Love theory. Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) are used to discretize the exact mid-surface of the shell geometry exploiting their C -continuity property which avoids rotational degrees of freedom. The fracture process zone is modeled by interface elements with a cohesive law. Two numerical examples are presented to test and validate the proposed formulation in predicting the delamination behavior of composite structures.

Operating characteristic analysis on the ultra-thin low temperature floor-heating system

摘要: Prefabricated ultra-thin radiant heating panel, as a new heating terminal type, is becoming a highlight in Yangtze River Valley area, China recently. However, there is a lack of operating characteristic research in this region, especially the energy consumption and operating mode are even less. To obtain these data, a heating system was set up in a duplex house in Chongqing. The test results show that the floor heating system could almost satisfy thermal comfort requirement at supply water temperature 45°C. But the preheating time was up to 4.5 h which was 1 h longer than that at supply water temperature 50°C. Meanwhile, the energy consumption at supply water temperature 50°C increased 0.10 Nm /h, and the operating efficiency decrease about 2.6% compared to those at water temperature 45°C. Considering both the thermal lag and operating efficiency, a reasonable suggestion was proposed in this paper. That was, the standard families which just stay home at night should adopt the interim mode of partial room with part time. And the supply water temperature should be properly raised during the preheating period and lowered down in the steady heating stage.

Development of dimensionless P-I diagram for curved SCS sandwich shell subjected to uniformly distributed

摘要: The curved steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich shell was recently proposed to resist blast loading and it showed better blast resistant performance as compared to flat SCS sandwich shell via developing compressive force along the shell. In this paper, a dimensionless Pressure-Impulse (P-I) diagram was constructed as a convenient tool to predict the damage level of curved SCS sandwich shell subjected to uniformly distributed blast loading. The curved SCS sandwich shell was equivalent to a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system and the equation of motion was established by employing the Lagrange’s equation. To construct the dimensionless P-I diagram, the energy balance method was utilized to yield the pressure and impulse asymptotes and the responses in the dynamic response regime were obtained via employing the SDOF method. Then, the finite element method was employed to validate the developed dimensionless P-I diagram. Finally, the procedures of using the constructed dimensionless P-I diagram to quickly conduct the blast resistant design of curved SCS sandwich shell were presented.

Thermal deflection analysis of the solidified shell in continuous casting of slab

摘要: The thermal deformation problem in the continuous casting of a slab subjected to thermal loading because of the temperature gradient along the solidified shell thickness is investigated. On the basis of the reciprocal theorem of work or Betti-Maxwell s reciprocal theorem and the superposition principle, the deflection expressions for a rectangular plate with the two opposite edges simply supported, and the other two opposite edges clamped under the action of the uniformly distributed load and nonuniform temperature field are derived respectively. The meaning of each term in the deflection expression obtained by the reciprocal theorem of work is explained. Then the practical example is given to calculate the thermal deformation and the bulging deformation of the solidified shell under three tension speeds. This research is useful for analyzing the bulging deformation in the continuous casting of a slab under the static pressure of the molten steel and the thermal loading because of the temperature gradient along the solidified shell thickness.

A new meshless approach for bending analysis of thin plates with arbitrary shapes and boundary conditions

摘要: An efficient and meshfree approach is proposed for the bending analysis of thin plates. The approach is based on the choice of a set of interior points, for each of which a basis function can be defined. Plate deflection is then approximated as the linear combination of those basis functions. Unlike traditional meshless methods, present basis functions are defined in the whole domain and satisfy the governing differential equation for plate. Therefore, no domain integration is needed, while the unknown coefficients of deflection expression could be determined through boundary conditions by using a collocation point method. Both efficiency and accuracy of the approach are shown through numerical results of plates with arbitrary shapes and boundary conditions under various loads.

Stability analysis of large diameter thin-walled tube beam-columns

摘要: Based on a blind spot in the current design standard of steel structures, the large diameter thin-walled tube beam-columns are analyzed using nonlinear finite element method in this paper. The influence of several factors on stability capacity of the large diameter thin-walled tube beam-columns is taken into account. Thus, according to the correlative design standard of steel structures, and on the basis of the numerical analytical results by the finite element methods, the calculation formulas of the stability bearing capacity are presented for beam-column members of the large diameter thin-walled tubes. Three tests of thin-walled steel tube beam-columns were reported. Test results for deformations and ultimate strength are found to be in a good agreement with the corresponding values predicted by the calculation formulas, and the proposed methods can be used in design practice.

Free vibration analysis of cracked thin plates by quasi-convex coupled isogeometric-meshfree method

摘要: The free vibration analysis of cracked thin plates via a quasi-convex coupled isogeometric-meshfree method is presented. This formulation employs the consistently coupled isogeometric-meshfree strategy where a mixed basis vector of the convex B-splines is used to impose the consistency conditions throughout the whole problem domain. Meanwhile, the rigid body modes related to the mixed basis vector and reproducing conditions are also discussed. The mixed basis vector simultaneously offers the consistent isogeometric-meshfree coupling in the coupled region and the quasi-convex property for the meshfree shape functions in the meshfree region, which is particularly attractive for the vibration analysis. The quasi-convex meshfree shape functions mimic the isogeometric basis function as well as offer the meshfree nodal arrangement flexibility. Subsequently, this approach is exploited to study the free vibration analysis of cracked plates, in which the plate geometry is exactly represented by the isogeometric basis functions, while the cracks are discretized by meshfree nodes and highly smoothing approximation is invoked in the rest of the problem domain. The efficacy of the present method is illustrated through several numerical examples.

Mechanics analysis of thin-walled box continuous girder with variable cross-sections in considering effect

摘要: In order to study the mechanics behavior of a thin-walled box continuous girder with variable cross-sections, using potential variation theories, considering the effect of shear lag of flange’s stress and the nonlinear geometry of vertical displacement, and evolving five generalized displacements with the spline function, the large deflection problem of the thin-walled box continuous girder with variable cross-section was transformed to a nonlinear algebraic equation, which was solved using the Newton-Raphon iterative method. The results of the calculation show that different shear lag warp functions to the cantilever, top and bottom plate should be taken to analyze the mechanics behavior of the thin-walled box continuous girder reliably. The thin-walled box continuous girder with variable cross-sections has more reasonable stress state and is more adaptable for the longitudinal change of internal forces than that with equal cross-sections. The effect of large deflection on the stress and displacement of the thin-walled box continuous girder with variable cross-sections depends on the values of the load.

A frequency error estimation for isogeometric analysis of Kirchhoff–Love cylindrical shells

摘要: A frequency error estimation is presented for the isogeometric free vibration analysis of Kirchhoff–Love cylindrical shells using both quadratic and cubic basis functions. By analyzing the discrete isogeometric equations with the aid of harmonic wave assumption, the frequency error measures are rationally derived for the quadratic and cubic formulations for Kirchhoff–Love cylindrical shells. In particular, the governing relationship of the continuum frequency for Kirchhoff–Love cylindrical shells is naturally embedded into the frequency error measures without the need of explicit frequency expressions, which usually are not trivial for the shell problems. In accordance with these theoretical findings, the 2nd and 4th orders of frequency accuracy are attained for the isogeometric schemes using quadratic and cubic basis functions, respectively. Numerical results not only thoroughly verify the theoretical convergence rates of frequency solutions, but also manifest an excellent magnitude match between numerical and theoretical frequency errors for the isogeometric free vibration analysis of Kirchhoff–Love cylindrical shells.

Optimization of polyurethane-bonded thin overlay mixture designation for airport pavement

摘要: This research explored the application potential of PUM thin-overlay technology on airport rapid maintenance. The rapid curing process of polyurethane binder determines the limited time window for mixing and construction of polyurethane-bonded mixture (PUM), which presents significant difference with hot-mix asphalt (HMA) technology. Therefore, this research investigated and optimized the mix design of PUM for airport thin-overlay technology based on its thermosetting characteristics. First, limestone and basalt were comprehensively compared as an aggregate for PUM. Then, the effects of molding and curing conditions were studied in terms of mixing time, molding method, molding parameters and curing temperature. Statistical analysis was also conducted to evaluate the effects of gradation and particle size on PUM performances based on gray relational analysis (GRA), thus determining the key particle size to control PUM performances. Finally, the internal structural details of PUM were captured by X-ray CT scan test. The results demonstrated that it only took 12 hours to reach 75% of maximum strength at a curing temperature of 50 °C, indicating an efficient curing process and in turn allowing short traffic delay. The internal structural details of PUM presented distribution of tiny pores with few connective voids, guaranteeing waterproof property and high strength.

Dynamic analysis of free-surface thin film flows driven by gravity over undulated substrate

摘要: This paper studies thin film flows with free surfaces driven by gravity through two types of undulated planes: periodically sinusoidal plane and triangle. The substrate plane is fixed and inclined to a certain angle and the flow with a free surface. Through finite element method (FEM), commenced from Navier-Stokes equations and continuity equation, the exact numerical results of free-surface film flows are obtained through discretization solution to finite equations in flowing areas. Based on the numerical calculations, the streamlines and wall shearing stress during the flowing process are visualized via post-proceeding, and the streamlines separation, the onset and evolution of vortex near the substrate boundary during the flow are also analyzed. The influences from the waviness of the substrate planes profile, height of the triangle plane, and change of the film height on film flow dynamics properties are shown.

压力容器是一种应用广泛的重要工程装置。大型压力贮罐、氨合成塔、尿素合成塔、石油加氢反应器、导弹壳体和液氢、液氧燃料压力容器,以及核堆压力壳等是国际上公认的高科技重大承压装备。纤维复合材料和普通钢制是当今世界压力容器技术的两大种类。作者开创了一种新的具有优良综合特性,已含国家发明奖励和18项中美专利成果的抗爆钢复合材料压力容器技术,使压力容 器的使用安全性和制造经济性发生了极大的变革;其典型代表钢带缠绕式压力容器,已被美国机械工程师学会正式列入ASME标准,居国际领先水平,将为21世纪国际压力容器的设计、制造和安全保障技术的发展开创出新的局面。

Numerical analysis of aluminum alloy reticulated shells with gusset joints under fire conditions

摘要: In this study, a numerical analysis was conducted on aluminum alloy reticulated shells (AARSs) with gusset joints under fire conditions. First, a thermal-structural coupled analysis model of AARSs considering joint semi-rigidity was proposed and validated against room-temperature and fire tests. The proposed model can also be adopted to analyze the fire response of other reticulated structures with semi-rigid joints. Second, a parametric analysis was conducted based on the numerical model to explore the buckling behavior of K6 AARS with gusset joints under fire conditions. The results indicated that the span, height-to-span ratio, height of the supporting structure, and fire power influence the reduction factor of the buckling capacity of AARSs under fire conditions. In contrast, the reduction factor is independent of the number of element divisions, number of rings, span-to-thickness ratio, and support condition. Subsequently, practical design formulae for predicting the reduction factor of the buckling capacity of K6 AARSs were derived based on numerical analysis results and machine learning techniques to provide a rapid evaluation method. Finally, further numerical analyses were conducted to propose practical design suggestions, including the conditions of ignoring the ultimate bearing capacity analysis of K6 AARS and ignoring the radiative heat flux.

原料预处理对橡胶籽壳热裂解特性的影响

摘要:

为探讨水洗、酸洗以及熔盐等预处理方法对生物质热裂解特性的影响,以橡胶籽壳为原料,使用去离子水(H2O)和质量分数分别为5 %、10 %和15 % 的盐酸(HCl)、硫酸(H2SO4)、甲酸(HCOOH)、混合酸溶液(HCl+HCOOH,VHCl∶VHCOOH=1∶1)、KCl以及NaOH对橡胶籽壳进行预处理,采用热重分析法考察了预处理对橡胶籽壳热裂解特性及综合特性指数的影响。结果表明:水洗及酸洗可使橡胶籽壳的热解主反应区热重和微分热重曲线向高温侧移动,最大失重速率和最大失重温度升高,而熔盐则降低;HCl和HCOOH以及HCl+HCOOH溶液浓度对橡胶籽壳热裂解特性的影响较小,而H2SO4浓度的影响显著,并随浓度升高而增大;酸洗有利于橡胶籽壳中挥发分的析出,可以脱除秸秆内的部分钾盐,3 种酸脱钾盐的作用依次为H2SO4>HCl>HCOOH;热裂解热性综合特性指数受水洗和酸洗影响显著,并随酸浓度升高而变化。
